Red Oak, Subtle and Versatile

The most common species of hardwood floors I've restored is, without a doubt, red oak. I'd wager 90% of my work is comprised of natural red oak. It has a timeless appeal. Trends come and go, but red oak is constantly a classic, comfortable style. It's also a species that takes stain the best, because it is a porous wood that soaks up stain very evenly. There are times when I dont fully appreciate the look of red oak enough, (as I see it so often). When I take the time to go back and look at some of the red oak floors I've restored, I appreciate them more and more.
